How To Obtain a DD Form 214

 

Veterans and the next-of-kin of deceased veterans may obtain a copy of the veteran's DD Form 214 through several different mechanisms, depending on when the veteran was separated from the service.

 

For recently separated or retired veterans, their records are maintained by their respective service. These service locations are:

Air Force  – Air Force Personnel Center

Army – Human Resources Command

Coast Guard - Assistant Commandant for Human Resources

Marines – Headquarters US Marine Corps

Navy – BUPERS

For non-recent records, the records are maintained by the National Archives in St. Louis, MO. The link to the National Archives is HERE.
