How To Obtain a DD Form 214
Veterans and the next-of-kin of deceased veterans may obtain a copy of the veteran's DD Form 214 through several different mechanisms, depending on when the veteran was separated from the service.
For recently separated or retired veterans, their records are maintained by their respective service. These service locations are:
Air Force – Air Force Personnel Center
Army – Human Resources Command
Coast Guard - Assistant Commandant for Human Resources
Marines – Headquarters US Marine Corps
Navy – BUPERS
Please see the above links for your respective service's website to determine what is considered recent.
For non-recent records, the records are maintained by the National Archives in St. Louis, MO. The link to the National Archives is HERE.
